Located in Abuja, Nigeria, the Dr. Ladi Kwali Incubation and Technology Center has been instrumental in helping African scientists and entrepreneurs. The Center allows biotech companies to develop research in emerging technology and neurogenetics and several other tech-based and community-focused initiatives.

Michael Luckhoo, an experienced technology entrepreneur, introduces readers to the Dr. Ladi Kwali Incubation and Technology Center and explains how this organization will help further the causes of African business, education, technology, and community service.

The Center’s Mission

The mission of the Dr. Ladi Kwali Incubation and Technology Center is to encourage the development of new scientific and technical initiatives that will directly impact the lives of the African population as well as influencing the wider world.

The four main focus points of the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center are social impact, emerging tech, neurogenetics, and heritage. All of the projects championed by the Center must fit into this worldview in some way. In the beginning, the Center has chosen six well-regarded projects to start. The focal objectives are to explore, innovate, and unite through technology that revolve around people’s health, economy empowering, nations security, innovation, inclusion, and advanced research that is helping to restructure national services through modern day technologies.

The first batch of projects focuses on specific industry segments native to the Kwali heritage. The projects will also include innovation in the service of reform.

Neural Village

Neural Village is a new company focused on creating a hub for research and development in technology. The main area of interest for Neural Village is combating the effects of brain diseases in Africa.

Google has selected the company for its Open Innovation Day program. It works with ArianGroup French Guiana and many other companies to transfer knowledge.

Pal Geora

Pal Geora is supporting the growth of a blockchain-powered payment system in Abuja, Nigeria. Since 82 percent of the Abuja population does not have a bank, Pal Geora’s efforts will help residents achieve financial stability and independence.

The system takes advantage of blockchain technologies to create a secure and efficient banking experience for the people of Abuja. It is hoped that the bank’s customer base will spread beyond Abuja in the future as its blockchain technologies mature.

Tankerbot

Tankerbot is a logistics start-up company that manages and monitors filling stations. It also helps filling stations and tanker drivers communicate with one another.

Girlyzip

Girlyzip provides menstrual kits for women who have trouble accessing these products on the open market in Africa. The startup provides women with the necessary supplies for their health and wellness. The program can also connect women with experienced doctors to look at problems they may have during their periods.

AsherBaza

AsherBaza integrates art and technology and makes it easier for artists to sell their art. The influence of art-based NFTs or non-fungible tokens is impacting the African art scene as creators are finding new ways to benefit from their work.

Vicsystems

Vicsystems is a startup company that builds small business websites. It also helps children aged 7 to 18 with software coaching.

Building the Center

In December 2020, the Center took possession of its new building in Abuja. Cleanup and remodeling have continued at an impressive pace. The building has its own engine room to create a power supply. Businesses have been moving in and beginning their work to help the African people.

The Importance of Community-Based Initiatives

Rather than waiting for external help from foreign countries, the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center for Incubation and Technology focuses on bringing African ideas to life. Keeping research and technology within the community increases the chances that the local population will benefit from their efforts.

With a multi-faceted approach to technology and development, the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center will help launch important new business initiatives and further the cause of scientific research in the biotech field. Fintech is another important aspect of the Center’s work, and offering secure banking systems through blockchain is one of their flagship activities.

“Congratulations to us as we will be part of the problem solving center to design the roadmap for financial inclusion of women in Nigeria. The Dr. Ladi Kwali Center will be the pilot center, a project designated by the African Union. Finally, the blockchain technology is here” — Japhet Kineze

Supporting African Business

Michael Luckhoo believes that it is important to make sure that African business initiatives are supported. By the year 2030, the majority of the African population will have Internet access. It is an exciting time in Africa with rapid economic development taking place.

The African population is young compared to that of the developed world, and it is primed to adopt new technologies at a rapid pace.

The environment for fintech startups is particularly fertile. Since there is little infrastructure in traditional banking, it is easier to start with new systems based on blockchain.

Experiencing Growth in Africa

Through the programs championed by the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center for Incubation and Technology, the African business world will be enhanced. The local population will be able to share in its success through job creation and the advancement of technology.

Japhet Kineze, Founder of the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center

We need to bring attention to the developing world, specifically Africa, so much value underneath, having the people of the nation like Japhet take the initiative is the start. More to come!

Michael Luckhoo encourages investors to look into the companies being fostered through the Dr. Ladi Kwali Center and other African firms that may need a cash infusion to get their operations off the ground. Through local economic development, the population of Nigeria and Africa will become more prosperous and live better lives.
